Kaizer Chiefs coach, Molefi Ntseki, told the members of the media in Naturena that his side is working to correct areas of the game ahead of the DStv Premiership against Amazulu.

Amakhosi opened the season with a 0-0 draw against Chippa United which was followed by back-to-back defeats against Mamelodi Sundowns and TS Galaxy.

“We are working very hard in correcting the areas of the game that we need to, we have done our analysis of the opponent and this is what you normally do whenever we have to play a game in the PSL,” said Ntseki.

“I think the attitude, the mentality is OK. We are over what happened over the weekend [against TS Galaxy], we are fully aware that we did not get the result that we wanted for the past three matches.

It is this time that we have to turn things around and I think the most important thing is a belief in our players, belief in our tactics, belief in our approach and things will work out well for us.”

Ntseki took over the coaching reigns from Arthur Zwane who has been demoted to assistant. Kaizer Chiefs lost two preseason friendly matches against Young Africans from Tanzania and Township Rollers from Botswana.

After the defeat against TS Galaxy, angry Kaizer Chiefs fans threw at missiles at Ntseki. “I think it’s a big disappointment for the club, for this brand,” said Ntseki about the behaviour of fans.

“But the most important thing that we all need to understand is that when you are not happy, when you are disappointed, actions of violence are not what this country is all about. What is important is, keeping peace because we are loving peace type of a team.

“It has happened in the past and I think the club has addressed this matter. In terms of their behaviour, I think we can always do things differently instead of doing what you have done.

“The club has spoken about this and we are saying as a technical team and as the players, we are fully aware of the disappointment and we are working very hard to make them happy.

“But the game of football has three types of results – you draw games that you don’t have to – the first game we played [against Chippa United] it was a draw and then we went on to play Sundowns and we lost, even though the loss itself did not go well with us in terms of the play.

“We went to play against Cape Town City – a Cup game – and won. And the whole Khosi nation was happy and we were looking forward to doing just against TS Galaxy.

“But on the day, we did not take our chances. At the end of the day, we made a mistake which ended up in a goal. We could not recover from that and the game ended 1-0 in favour of TS Galaxy.
“Having lost the game, the supporters were disappointed, we were also disappointed but that doesn’t define who we are and we are looking forward to turn things around.”
By Zola Doda

Chippa United coach, Lehlohonolo Seema, believes that his side is not yet out of the woods despite beating Richards Bay in the previous match.

The Chilli Boys came 2-0 down to beat Richards Bay 3-2 in the DStv Premiership. “The guys worked hard and they deserve to win the game against Richards Bay because they dug deep,” Seema said.

“I also allowed them to celebrate their victory after the match because the following day we had to prepare for our next opponents because we know exactly where we are. We are not yet out of the woods.

“But the mood is ok, it’s not a relaxed mood. It’s a mood of people that know that they are not yet safe.”

With two matches remaining before the end of the season, Chippa United are currently lying on position 15 on the log – three points ahead of Maritzburg United at the bottom. Chilli Boys’ next match is against TS Galaxy.

“Where I arrived here, I told the guys that we have four Cup finals,” said Seema. “At the moment everyone is trying to fight for anything. It’s not about us going to a team that is not out of the woods yet, we will try to get maximum points because every game we win is important and we don’t have to know how other teams are doing.

“We just have to focus and get three points. It’s going to be a difficult game because TS Galaxy is hard to beat especially when playing at home. They don’t concede too many goals but we are preparing well and we are coming from a win [against Richards Bay].”

Orlando Pirates have provided further updates on Thembinkosi Lorch’s injury.

The 29-year-old, alongside Thapelo Xoki, missed the DStv Premiership match against Cape Town City at Orlando Stadium.

Lorch picked up a minor knock on the build up to the match while Xoki was substituted during the Nedbank Cup clash against Dondol Stars after picking up a knock.

“According to the medical team, Xoki is likely to be fit for selection ahead of Sunday’s league game away to TS Galaxy, having returned to full training after suffering a head injury,” read the Pirates statement.

“Lorch, on the other hand, remains a doubtful starter for the clash in Mbombela and continues to be monitored, having picked up a knock to his hip.

“Right-backs Bandile Shandu and Craig Martin are back to provide more depth in defence after recovering from illness and a slight knock, respectively. Both have recently resumed full training along with goalkeeper Richard Ofori and striker Bienvenu Eva Nga.

“Meanwhile, Vincent Pule and striker Ndumiso Mabena are expected to be back at full training during the course of the week after both were sidelined by knee injuries. Also on the mend is midfielder Goodman Mosele, who has started light training but remains under rehab, while defender Olisa Ndah is still side-lined with a knee injury.”

Orlando Pirates next match is against TS Galaxy at Mbombela Stadium on Sunday. Kick-off is at 15:00.
By Zola Doda

Supersport United got back to winning ways with a 2-0 victory over TS Galaxy at TUT Stadium.

Gavin Hunt’s side lost 1-0 to Orlando Pirates before the FIFA international break and drew 1-1 last week against Chippa United.

A goal inside five minutes from Siphesihle Ndlovu and a second from Brandley Grobler five mutes after the interval sent the home side to second spot in the DStv Premiership table.

“We played well tonight; I thought it was a good performance,” Hunt told Supersport TV after the match.

“Some good stuff around the box, we had three good penalty shouts – we don’t get penalties and it’s a bit disheartening. But I thought we played really well. Well deserved victory. The pitch was sticky and difficult to play on but we played well.

“Our identity is our intensity. When we don’t have intensity, we are not a good side. We had great intensity tonight and that is our identity, that is how we play.

“Grant Margeman and Siphesihle Ndlovu were magnificent. Even the boy upfront, Jones [Lungu], he was magnificent. Tyson [Thulani Hlatshwayo] is just getting better and better]. We’ve been a bit unfortunate for the last two weeks or so, but I mean, we will keep battling.”

Supersport United welcomed back Thatayaone Ditlhokwe from suspension and Hunt was pleased with the performance of his defenders.

“We have four strikers and no defenders and we need to get the balance right and that takes time and transfer windows. Any coach needs transfer windows so that we can mold the squad,” said Hunt.

“We’ve been struggling with centre backs; they are all on three yellow cards. One goes and the next one goes and then we mix-and-match every week. Jones played up front, he has played at right side in midfield, he has played left side. I think he has had played in four positions and maybe goalkeeper next week.”
By Zola Doda

TS Galaxy chairman, Tim Sukazi, has confirmed that his team is talks regarding the transfer of Given Msimango.

According to media reports, the 25-year-old is already on his way to Naturena and during an interview with Rise FM, Sukazi confirmed the talks between TS Galaxy and Chiefs.

“Yes, there are [talks], very much so,” Sukazi said. “Even then, I want people to know that project TS Galaxy is on its teething phase. We are on our third season and we have only played two full seasons.

“So, we are just starting comparatively speaking because there are clubs that were established in 1937 [Orlando Pirates]. We are realistic as well about our business model and how are we going to continue building this project.

“Part of the model, of course, will be to follow the likes Tottenham Hotspur. If you remember that, there was a time when they had to sell the best player, Gareth Bale, to Real Madrid and they reinvested [that money] in the project.

“Since then, they have become stronger and stronger. They’ve been contending to be in UEFA competitions year-in-year-out. That’s the model, there is no other way. Unless you are spoilt and have endless money. The project stands to sustain itself if rules are very firm. And if it is allowed, to grow organically more than buying success.”

Supersport United defender, Thatayaone Ditlhokwe, is the only player that has been confirmed to be going to Naturena. Besides Msimango, Cape Town City’s Mduduzi Mdantsane is also to be rumoured to be on his way to Naturena. But the move has not been confirmed.
By Zola Doda
