Foster scores first Burnley goal

South African international, Lyle Foster, scored his first English Premier League goal as Burnley suffered 3-1 defeat against Aston Villa at Turf Moor.

The home side started strongly and earned an early corner, when Foster broke down the left and saw his teasing cross into the area turned behind by Ezri Konsa.

It was Aston Villa who took the lead after eight minutes when Matty Cash scored after a run into the area. Burnley attempted to respond, but Manuel Benson’s shot went wide.

Cash doubled extended Aston Villa’s lead, making it 2-0 before the midway point of the first half.

Hannes Delcroix’s interception prevented Moussa Diaby from getting a one-on-one chance against Burnley’s goalkeeper James Trafford.

Cash and Diaby combined again, but Ollie Watkins missed a chance to score a third for Aston Villa.
Burnley began the second half strongly, and two minutes into the second half Foster scored to reduce the deficit to 2-1.

But midway through the second half Diaby scored again for Aston Villa to make it 3-1.
