Gallants ready for Pyramids challenge

Marumo Gallants coach, Raymond Mdaka, believes his side is ready for the Caf Confederation Cup quarter-final, second leg, clash against Pyramids FC from Egypt.

Gallants finished top of Group A before they were drawn against Pyramids FC. During the first leg played at the 30 June Stadium, Babina Noko took a 53rd minute lead through Ranga Chivaviro.

And the home equalised on the 90th minute to set up a mouth-watering second leg clash on Sunday, 30 April.

“We wanted to win so that when we come back home [for the second leg], we can have an easy game and progress to the semi-final,” said Mdaka.

“But we only managed a draw and we think we should have won. Other than that, it looked to be a very good game. We expect more when we play against them.

We don’t have any injuries other than the issue of travelling which we have been managing very well. The players are still OK.”

Despite competing in the Caf Confederation Cup, Marumo Gallants is still fighting relegation in the DStv Premiership.

Three days after the Caf Confederation Cup match against Pyramids, they will take on Maritzburg United.

“We don’t have to put ourselves under pressure and come up with special plans for the match against Maritzburg United. We know it’s in our programme and fixture, we just have to work on our boys to remain positive and maintain the same character that we had.”
