Italian Serie A side, AS Roma, has announced the signing of Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea.
The Belgian international, who spent last season on loan at Inter Milan, has reunited with his former Chelsea and Manchester United coach, Jose Mourinho.
The 30-year-old made his professional debut with Anderlecht in 2009 before joining English Premiership side Chelsea two years later in 2011. He remained a Premier League player until 2019, playing for the likes of West Bromwich Albion, Everton and Manchester United.
In 2019, Lukaku moved to Inter for two seasons before returning to Chelsea in 2021. He once again signed for the Nerazzurri in 2022, with his current record at club level showing 280 goals in 589 appearances.
The forward was happy to re-unite with Mourinho. “My relationship with him is cool. He makes me laugh, he makes the players laugh, he’s a real family guy. He fights for his players, but he’s real. When you’re not happy, you don’t need to fake your emotions.
“People need to appreciate that, at least there are people who are real in this world like him. Because most of the managers in the league, when they are not happy, they try to find a way to seem happy.
“You should respect that he wants to keep his own personality and not shy away from confrontation. Here, he really wants us to improve. He is a normal guy, we get along well. He is cool with everybody.”
AS Roma will host AC Milan on Friday.
