Middendorp takes charge of his first training at Meppen

Ernst Middenrop took charge of his first training session at SV Meppen after dumping Swallows.

The 64-year-old took over at the relegation-threatened side from Stefan Kramer, who was fired following a 3-2 defeat to Halescher.

SV Meppen are in danger of getting relegated to the Regionalliga Nord, which is the fourth tier of German football played by teams from Hamburg, Bremen, Lower Saxony and Schleswig-Holstein states.

Speaking to the club media before his first training session, the 64-year-old said he is aware of the daunting task at hand.

“I think, with my experience, I know where to start,” he said. “This is a very attractive task for me. I’ve watched a lot of SV Meppen third division games.

“We have to work on getting a good unit on the pitch that also has good communication with each other.”
