Pirates progress to the next round of the Champions League

Orlando Pirates beat Djabai 3-0 in the Caf Champions League, preliminary, second leg.

The Buccaneers won the tie 4-0 on aggregate and will take on the winner between Jwaneng Galaxy and Vipers in the next round of the competition.

The Buccaneers broke the deadlock in the 25th minute after the visitors thanks to Zakhele Lepasa who scored with a header.

In the second half, the Buccaneers maintained their dominance, even weathering a short period of pressure from Djabal.

Kabelo Dlamini had a chance in the 54th minute, but his shot missed the target after he cut in from the flank.

Patrick Maswanganyi scored a stunning goal from outside the box, taking advantage of the space he was given and extending the Buccaneers’ lead.

Lepasa completed his brace by scoring in the 63rd minute, increasing the Buccaneers’ lead to 3-0.
The Buccaneers remained dominant throughout the match, even though they were already comfortably ahead.

Substitutes Relebohile Mofokeng and Deon Hotto combined effectively on the left side of the field. The match could have seen more goals, but Souaibou Marou’s header went wide, and Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo’s attempt went over the bar in injury time.

The match ended as a comfortable victory for the Buccaneers, allowing them to advance to the Second Preliminary Round with a strong performance on their home ground.
