Pitso Mosimane has hit back at critics following Al Ahli’s 2-1 over Hajer FC Al Hasa in the Saudi Arabia First Division.
The win takes Al Ahli one step closer to gaining promotion to the Pro League and will need one point from the remaining four matches.
Mosimane’s side took the lead on the stroke of half time thanks to Hassan Hashim Al Ali’s goal.
Ten minutes after the break, Congolese international, Jean-Marc Makusu, made it 1-1 for the home side.
But Al Ahli were awarded a late penalty seven into stoppage time which was converted by Ryad Boudebouz.
“They told us that we are taking a career suicide that the team has lot of problems (management, finances etc), but we bravely took the project, irrespective,” wrote Mosimane on his Twitter account.
“They also us told we can’t resuscitate the sleeping giant. We daily whispered to it and tonight, it responded. It’s awake.”
