Orlando Pirates coach, Jose Riveiro, says the 2-1 win over Cape Town City at Orlando Pirates is one of the best performances his side has ever played.
Cape Town City took the lead on the 18th minute when Khanyisa Mayo played quick one-two with Juan Zapata next to the centre circle and finished off the move with his stronger left foot.
Terrence Dzvukamanja levelled matters on the 27th minute and Monnapule Saleng won the match for the Buccaneers on the 76th minute.
“It was one of our best performances in the first half here in Orlando Stadium, playing at home,” said Riveiro after the match.
“We defended very bad and allowed the opponent to get the lead but I think our first half was a 2-0 performance perhaps, we had plenty of entrances to the box, possibilities, shots, corners and forcing the opponent to defend.
“We were lucky to score the goal, I think it was a second action in a set piece, in a rebound and we managed to calm down a bit at least to the half time. At half time we knew that we were playing good enough and things were going as we planned.
“We only managed to adjust one detail in the second half, it was a fantastic contribution from the players coming off the bench. It one of the keys in the last months when we see the results we are getting, the contribution, the whole group not only the ones who are starting.
“I think we deserve the goal. It came in an isolated action, one ball to the space, one of the balls that we were trying to play during the whole game. I think overall, good performance very well deserved three points.”
