Kaizer Chiefs defender, Dilan Solomons, believes the last game of the season against Cape Town City is important for Amakhosi following the defeat to Supersport United.
Amakhosi lost 1-0 to Supersport United and angry fans threw objects at coach Arthur Zwane as he was leaving the pitch.
“We are in good spirits this week and we are looking forward to the game,” Solomons says. “It’s the last game of the season and people tend think that our minds are not there and we are thinking about holidays. “But this is an important game for us. When we went to take Cape Town, we didn’t get the results we wanted so hopefully we have to kill them off this weekend.
“I know a lot of players there [Cape Town City] and I’ve played with a few. They are a possession-based team, they like to keep the ball and in attack they are good.
We have to be on our toes and defensively strong. When we get our opportunities to score we have to take our opportunities.”
The 24-year-old joined Amakhosi at the beginning of the season and was in out of the team. The defender also missed three matches due to shoulder injury.
“Playing for a Chiefs is a big achievement and being part of this team was a great experience,” the defender reflects on the season. “It was a very inconsistent season but we are building and we are creating something special.
“Hopefully next season we can win some silverware. It was very hard not to win silverware but these things happened in football.
“Personally, my feeling about the season is good but we are inconsistent here and there and injuries didn’t help me. In the first season it’s about trying to adapt and get used to the environment and I think I did well in that. Hopefully next season I can give fans something to smile about.”
