Mamelodi Sundowns coach, Rulani Mokwena, is determined to help side get three points against Al-Ahly in the Caf Champions League.
Sundowns takes on the Egyptian side in Caf Champions League Group B at the Al Salam Stadium.
“It’s always good to be in Egypt, it’s a country that is fanatic about football,” said Mokwena.
“We are looking forward to the game, against a team that has shown a very good domestic form. They are consistent in the league having played 16 games and won 12.
“It’s a good side and looking at their performance at the Fifa Club World Cup they had a good performance against Real Madrid. We have to perform very well to give ourselves a chance to win.”
“We had a two-day build-up prior to traveling, we had a regen session and some technical work was done. We focused on tactics and worked on the schemes as well as how we want to play in Cairo. We have a good facility in Cairo that the Al-Ahly, the government, and the CAF team were kind enough to assist us with.”
Masandawana beat Al Ahly 1-0 in February but a lot changed in the team since them.
“We were here last season and we managed to get a good result against a talented side. A lot of players that were on the pitch then will not be there on Saturday because our team has undergone transition.
“Most of the transition has been led by injuries in the squad to players like Themba Zwane and Peter Shalulile.”
