USM Alger clinch Super Cup

Percy Tau came on as a second half substitute in a 0-1 defeat to USM Alger in the Caf Super Cup.

Zinedine Belaid, the captain of USM Alger, scored the only goal of the match with a penalty in the first half. The penalty was awarded after a VAR consultation for a handball in the box.

Despite dominating possession and creating more chances, Al Ahly was unable to find the back of the net, thanks in part to the inspired performance of USM Alger’s goalkeeper, Oussama Benbot.

Al Ahly thought they had equalized early in the match, but the goal was ruled out for offside. In the second half, Al Ahly continued to press for an equalizer, with players like Tau and Ali Maaloul forcing saves from the Algerian goalkeeper.

USM Alger defended heroically throughout the match, holding onto their slim lead despite intense pressure from Al Ahly.

This win for USM Alger avenges their defeat to Al Ahly in the same final two years ago. For Al Ahly, this loss ended their hopes of achieving a sweep of trophies for the season, having already claimed the Egyptian league and CAF Champions League.

USM Alger’s victory in this historic match was a significant achievement for the club and demonstrated their progress under coach Abdelhak Benchikha.
