Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana player, Themba Zwane, says he hopes to continue to inspire after he warded with the People’s Choice Award.
The 33-year-old won the award and walked away with a prize money of R500 000 at the South African Sports Awards this past weekend.
Zwane was nominated alongside Banyana Banyana player Refiloe Jane, Ayabonga Khaka Proteas Women Cricketer, Olympic swimmer Tatjana Schoenmaker and Proteas men’s cricketer Kagiso Rabada.
“This accolade is very special to me because it’s a People’s Choice Award,” Zwane told Mamelodi Sundowns website.
“As a player, it is not only my responsibility to perform on the pitch but also to be a role model for the younger generation. I hope to continue to inspire and make a positive impact on and off the field. Once again, thanks to everyone who made this award possible and for the unwavering support,” Zwane stated.
