Kaizer Chiefs coach, Arthur Zwane, will break Steve Komphela’s record of winning five league matches in a row if Amakhosi beats Marumo Gallants on Saturday.
Chiefs will host relegation-threatened Marumo Gallants in the DStv Premiership after winning four league games in a row and the Nedbank Cup.
The last Chiefs coach achieve that was Komphela during the 2016/17 season. Speaking to journalists during Kaizer Chiefs media, Zwane says he is happy with what his players has achieved.
“Winning the last five games [four in the league and Nedbank Cup] – I will always give credit to the players because it’s always been difficult for them,” said Zwane.
“They come from different backgrounds and environments. Kaizer Chiefs is a beast, they are expected to perform week in and week out, you are expected to perform at your utmost best and bring your A Game in every game that you participate in.
“But it’s been difficult for them [players]. Injuries to key players as well did not make our lives easy. This being their first season at Kaizer Chiefs, there were high expectations but they have done well.
“These last five games that we won; it was always going to happen as soon as we get our rhythm.”
