Former goalkeeper, Joseph ‘Banks’ Setlhodi, has urged Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune to stay at the club.
Khune made his Kaizer Chiefs debut in 2007 and helped the club win multiple trophies.
But this season the 35-year-old has been finding it difficult to break into the team with Brandon Petersen preferred first choice.
“I don’t think it will be a wise move for Itu [Itumeleng Khune [to leave Kaizer Chiefs] at the end of the season,” Banks Setlhodi tells Touchline News.
“He doesn’t have much to offer [in terms of playing] because of the young boys coming through but I believe his presence means a lot. For him to be there, it will encourage them to compete.”
“Itumeleng is an asset to Chiefs and it won’t be easy for him to leave the club at his age. There are many things he can help with in the goalkeeping department. The young boys know, the slightest mistake they make, Itu can still come back and compete with them.”
