Mulenga: Saile is key to Chiefs’ success

Zambian international, Clifford Mulenga, believes that Christian Saile Basomboli is key to Kaizer Chiefs success.

Saile joined Amakhosi from Zambian Premier League side Nchanga Rangers during the January transfer and scored his first goal in a 2-0 against Maritzburg United.

“I’ve seen Cristian Saile play against us [Forest Rangers] twice here in Zambia – one match was during a preseason tournament and another one in the league where we beat them,” Mulenga tells Touchline News.

“What I saw is that he is a very aggressive and forceful player. Whenever he gets the ball, he wants to run forward and take on defenders.

“He wants to take shots at goal and create chances for his teammates. He is a very positive footballer with self-belief.

“When his team Nchanga Rangers got promoted to the Zambian Premier League, he was one of the top goalscorers in the First Division. He has a very good scoring record – he can create and score goals.

Normally he plays on the right wing but he is a left footed player, he likes to cut inside and take shots at goals. He has a very good technique.”

“I’m not sure if he will solve Chiefs’ goalscoring problems but he is definitely key to their success.

Mulenga started his career with TUKS as a teenager and went on to play for teams like Bidvest Wits, Supersport United and Jomo Cosmos. The 35-year-old is now back in Zambia where he plays for Forest Rangers.
