Stellenbosch FC coach, Steve Barker, says his team is ready to bounce back after a disappointing defeat to Kaizer Chiefs last week.
Before the 2-1 defeat to Amakhosi last week, Stellies were on a run of seven unbeaten matches across all competitions with the last defeat coming in January against Orlando Pirates.
Ahead of Sunday’s DStv Premiership match against Royal AM on Sunday, Barker says it’s important for his side bounce back from the defeat.
“It was disappointing not to get a bit more from the game against Kaizer Chiefs. But it’s important for us to show resilience and bounce back on the weekend against Royal AM,” Barker said.
“Positions on the log are very tight, there are lot of opportunities in these last six matches to get maximum points so that we can finish as high as possible.
“It’s a great opportunity in Chatsworth against Royal AM to get back to winning ways. We had really good momentum going into the Chiefs game, unfortunately it was broken. We need to start again, six game until the end of the season and that starts on Sunday.”
Heading in to the match against Royal AM, only one point separates Stellenbosch FC on position eight and Royal AM in number 11.
“There are lot of teams in contention for the top eight position, from position five all the way to eight – we are part of that mix that is trying to achieve that.
‘It’s important in these last six games that we show the focus, commitment and preparation to do as well as we can. It’s never an easy game against Royal AM at Chatsworth, they are difficult to play against.
“Besides the Kaizer Chiefs results, we just have to take that confidence we had and belief we had and continue moving forward.”
