Former Bafana Bafana player, Lance Davids, believes that the South African national doesn’t need Gaston Sirino.
The Uruguayan-born, who joined Mamelodi Sundowns in 2018, is now eligible to represent Bafana Bafana after he was issued with a South African passport.
But Davids, who has 23 Bafana Bafana caps, believes that the national team doesn’t need the Sundowns player.
“We have Cassius Maulilula, who is playing well in South Africa and in the Caf Champions League, we don’t need Gaston Sirino in the national team,” Davids tells Touchline News.
“Mailula is a quality player and he is proving himself in every match be it locally or on the African continent.
“There are so many good players in South Africa football who can represent the national team – why is everyone talking about Sirino? Is he scoring 30 goals every season? Then why is everyone talking about him? In my opinion, we don’t need him.”
