Dolly: We’ve been inconsistent this season

Kaizer Chiefs midfielder, Keagan Dolly, has opened up about his team’s inconsistency ahead of this weekend’s Soweto Derby clash against Orlando Pirates.

Kaizer Chiefs are currently lying on position five on the log with eight wins from 20 matches. Last week, they lost to Golden Arrows 3-2 after taking a 1-0 lead.

“What happened last week is in the past. Our focus is on the big one this weekend. I think, for us as a club and a team, we always want to win whenever we go onto the pitch no matter who we are playing against,” said Dolly.

“We only play against Orlando Pirates twice a year and what matters is that every other team we play against we need to perform the same way we perform against Pirates.

Going into this game we need to stick to our plan and try to pick ourselves and get the three points. It’s not only about this game it’s about the whole season.”

The two sides have met 176 times in official matches since the first meeting on 24 January 1970. Amakhosi won the last encounter 1-0.

“We are focused on the task at hand and it’s the game against Orlando Pirates this week,” adds Dolly.

“We know that we’ve been a bit inconsistent throughout the season and we know our challenges. Every day we sit together, we come up with solutions as a team – we sit down with the technical team and try to find solutions and try to come up with things that will help us improve.

I think we’ve been improving and we’ve been unlucky in a couple of games where we created opportunities that we don’t take. And we also let in silly goals. We will approach this game the same way we approach every other game.

“To all our supporters and everyone involved at the club, we know what is at stake this weekend, us as players especially. It is the one game we know we go into knowing we don’t need any extra motivation.”
