Bradley Grobler, scored his 100th PSL goal to help Supersport United beat Maritzburg United 2-0 at Lucas Moripe Stadium.
Matsatsantsa, who were knocked out of the Nedbank Cup by Dondol Stars before playing to a 1-1 draw against Royal AM, got back to winning ways thanks to goals from Kegan Johannes and Grobler.
Gavin Hunt’s side controlled the opening minutes but it was the visitors who almost opened the scoring against the run of play when Wayde Jooste’s free kick was saved goalkeeper Ricardo Goss.
The first half ended goalless.
In the 69th minute, Supersport United broke the deadlock when Bonginkosi Makume’s attempted clearance from Jamie Webber’s cross was headed home by Johannes.
Seven minutes later things got worse for Fadlu Davids’ team when referee, Cedric Muvhali, awarded the home team a penalty after Jooste fouled Thapelo Maseko inside the box.
Grobler’s penalty was saved by Maritzburg United goalkeeper, Leaner Renaldo, but the forward finished the rebound with a well-taken volley for his 100th PSL goal.
The win takes Matsatsantsa 19 points behind log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns while remain on position on position 15 on the log.
