Chippa United coach, Kurt Lentjies, believes the form book will be thrown out of the window when his side meets Orlando Pirates in the DStv Premiership.
The Chillie Boys will host The Buccaneers at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday, 8 April and kick off is at 17h30.
“The match against Orlando Pirates has nothing to do with our form, once the referee kicks the match off at 17h30 – the form book will be thrown out of the window,” said Lentjies.
“It’s the 90 minutes that counts from there. But obviously the mood has been good in our camp after the last results against Supersport United. We were playing against a team that was number two on the log. To walk away with a draw… we felt we could have done a bit better. We could have walked away with three points.
“But like I said, the mood is good and we are looking forward to the match against Orlando Pirates.”
Chippa United beat Orlando Pirates 1-0 in the third match of the season at Orlando Stadium. The Buccaneers are currently second on the log fighting for the Caf Champions League spot alongside Supersport United and Kaizer Chiefs.
On the other hand, Chippa United lost three of last five matches and drew the last two against Sekhukhune United and Supersport United.
“We are playing against Orlando Pirates; they are second on the log so we are not looking at the form or anything like that. We are focused on what we can control which is what will happen in the 90 minutes on Saturday. The guys are positive and the mood is good.
“Our objectives are – whether we are playing against League champions or of 15 teams in the league, we are looking to get three points – whether it’s home or away.”
