Mamelodi Sundowns coach, Rulani Mokwena, is wary of Sundowns’ Caf Champions League quarterfinal opponents, CR Belouizdad.
The reigning DStv champions takes on Stellenbosch in the Nedbank Cup quarter-final this weekend and after the match they will prepare for a trip to Algeria.
“CR Belouizdad are a very good team, the match is going to be complicated with very complex traveling,” said Mokwena.
“it’s a good side with a way of playing that is not too far from Sundowns. Organisational forms offensively look like 4-4-2, 4-3-3 or diamond formation sort of structure.
“[Mohamed Islam] Belkhir is their top goal scorer and they have done extremely well in the domestic competition – they are unbeaten and sit on top the log.
“It’s a very competitive team and they very strong on set pieces. They have two very good strikers – Nigerian [Anayo Emmanuel Iwuala] who is young and fast. It’s going to be a tough game and that is what we know.”
If Sundowns progress to the semi-final they will face the winners of the match between Simba from Tanzania or Wydad Casablanca from Morocco.
