Mamelodi Sundowns coach, Rulani Mokwena, has shrugged off talks about crisis inside the club dressing room.
After his side’s 3-1 win over Marumo Gallants in the Nedbank Cup, the Sundowns coach talked his club’s victory as well as reports that two of his players arrived at training under the influence of alcohol.
On beating Marumo Gallants in the Nedbank Cup…
“Congratulations to the football club, the technical team, the staff and the players for putting us through to the next round of the Nedbank Cup. That is why we have the squad that we have, the quality so that we have to be able to rotate the team and give everyone a chance. Everyone has done very well so far. I’m very happy with the spirit in the group. The quality of the training sessions and the work that we are putting in behind the scenes; it augers well for us.”
On reports about players coming to training under the influence of alcohol…
“If you are you looking for negative stories from me, I will not speak negatively about my players. I’ve got no comment about that.”
On the remaining three competitions…
“We are in the last three competitions (League, Nedbank Cup and Caf Champions League) and we will work very hard to try to win every game and competition. I’m satisfied with the commitment of the players, the work ethic from everybody. The quality and the intensity of our work – I’m very happy.”
On Peter Shalulile scoring form…
“Peter has been scoring, he scored in Cairo [against Al Ahly]. I’m proud of the effort of the players, everyone is committed and doing the best they can to help the football club.
On playing in Bloemfontein…
“It’s nice to see Siwelele fans, it’s nice to see that they still have their jerseys and it looks good from the outside. [Free State] is a province that deserves to have a football club – a province that loves football. You can see how passionate they are and how vibrant they are about supporting football.”
