Riveiro: It’s going to be a good test

Orlando Pirates coach, Jose Riveiro, says playing against Mamelodi Sundowns will be a good test but also warns that only one team will go home happy.

Orlando Pirates hosts table topping Mamelodi Sundowns in the DStv Premiership one week after beating Marumo Gallants away.

“These are important three points to play for – it goes without saying that it’s going to be an interesting game,” the Pirates coach says.

“Playing at home, it’s mandatory for us to prepare for the game with a proper mentality and understanding that we are going to meet a good opponent.

We have to think about our own duties and look for improvement after the last game we played against Gallants and look for areas where we need to do things better.”

“Both teams are in a good space in terms the results. You don’t win 14 matches in a row if you are not doing things well and in our case; you cannot win three matches in a row if you are not doing well.

It’s going to be a good test and one of us will not be happy at the end of game because we are not playing for draws. We will see what happens.”

The two teams have already met three times this season – twice in the MTN8 where the Buccaneers won 3-0 on aggregate and once in the league when Sundowns won 2-0.

“These types of games help both teams to improve for the future and to see if we are at a place where we want to see oursevlves . The level of challenge is very good and high.

“We know each other very well even though every is game is different. It’s different circumstances and approaches.

Both teams are well coached and we cannot repeat mistakes we did in the previous games otherwise we will get punished. We want to improve and try to be better than them on Saturday. There’s going to be interesting tactical points.”
