Cape Town City coach Eric Tinkler is feeling confident ahead of his side’s clash against Chippa United this weekend.
The Cape Town side travels to Port Elizabeth for the DStv Premiership just seven days after beating Orlando Pirates 2-1.
Defender Keanu Cupido has been ruled out due to a niggling injury while Lorenz Gordinho, who missed the clash against Orlando Pirates, is back from suspension.
“We have a match against Chippa United in Port Elizabeth this weekend and it’s not going to be an easy game,” said Tinkler.
“I thought they played well in their match against Mamelodi Sundowns, so we can’t drop our level. We have to keep our level where it was when we played against Orlando Pirates.
If we want to go there [Port Elizabeth] and compete against them, we have to go there with a lot of confidence and self-belief and a lot of positivity.”
Cape Town City ended last season second on the table behind champions Mamelodi Sundowns and this season Tinkler says the objective is to finished in the top eight.
“Obviously, it’s the tough stage of the season – it’s now the second round of the season and we need to climb the league table and remain in the top eight.
That is our objective and purpose. Training this week has been good, one or two niggles that we unfortunately picked from the game against Orlando Pirates.”
