Zwane: Defeat against Supersport was a setback

Kaizer Chiefs coach, Arthur Zwane, has described the defeat against Supersport United as a setback.

Amakhosi suffered three consecutive defeats against Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup, Swallows and Supersport United in the league.

“We thought we could redeem ourselves against Supersport United but on the day I don’t think we applied ourselves the way we wanted to and we ended up on the losing side,” said Zwane.

“Coming from a Soweto Derby that took a lot from us because we wanted to reach the [Nedbank] Final at all cost and it didn’t happen. We thought we were going to redeem ourselves against Supersport United but we couldn’t get the results. But still not a train smash, it’s a setback.”

Amakhosi will take on Cape Town City in the last game of the season and a win for Eric Tinkler’s side will see them jump into the fourth position. But Zwane believed that his charges are focussed on the task ahead.

“What is key for us is to go into the game [against Cape Town City] and make sure that we are focussed on getting points and forget about the past,” adds Zwane.

“We are trying to help the players forget about what occurred in the past three games. At the end of the day, we have to focus on what we can do and what we can deal with which is what is in front of us.

“And what is in front of us now is the game against Cape Town City and we would like to focus on that and make sure that we are ready for the game.”
