Kaizer Chiefs coach, Arthur Zwane has warned his team against complacency following a 2-1 win against Stellenbosch FC.
Kaizer Chiefs made two changes from the side that beat Maritzburg United 3-2 – Samkelo Zwane replaced the suspended Yusuf Maart; Siyabonga Ngezana returned with Zitha Kwinika dropping to the bench.
“We keep on creating chances, we keep on forcing the opposition to make mistakes and we were not ruthless,” Zwane told SuperSport TV after the match.
“We are not going to give up, we will keep on working with these players and make sure that we get it right because at the end of the day it’s our job. We needed three points playing at home but look, if we came back to the second half with the same performance we had in the first half, it could have been far better.
Ashley Du Preez and Keagan Dolly were on the scoresheet for Amakhosi. But Stellenbosch came back stronger in the second half and scored through Ibraheem Jabaar.
“Yes, we are creating chances but we don’t take them, we took the foot off the pedal,” adds Zwane.
“In the second half we started slow and we gave them hope. Towards the end of the game, they nearly equalised. It’s one of those things: lapse of concentration.
“Maybe it was an easy game for us and then we dropped the tempo. But we will keep working hard and make sure that we take our performance to another level.
“The message [to the players] was clear, we had an opportunity to score five goals. But we started giving the ball away, we gave them a lot of unnecessary corner kicks. Anything could have happened.”
