Mokwena: We have to continue to be better

Mamelodi Sundowns beat TS Galaxy 2-1 at Mbombela Stadium thanks to goals from Rushine De Reuck and Peter Shalulile.

Djakaridja Junior Traore scored a consolation from the penalty spot for the home side after Denis Onyango fouled Orebotse Mongae inside the box.

“Congratulations to the players and the technical team for winning the match,” said Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena after the match.

“It’s a huge compliment to the group, we are a team with good players. We work as a team and we have to continue to try to be better.

We have a difficult one on Saturday [against Sekhukhune United]. But today was a good performance – we created so many chances and we should have scored more.

“Rushine [De Reuck] regained his consciousness [after a clash of heads with Mlungisi Mbunjana].

It’s good news, medical teams from both teams, need be given credit for the prompt response. It’s good to see him walking. He scored a very important goal for us.”

Mamelodi Sundowns have four matches against Sekhukhune United, Orlando Pirates, Richards Bay and Coton Sport in the next seventeen days.

And Mokwena believes that his team has enough depth to deal with the hectic schedule.

“We are working hard to ensure every player is ready. The depth [in the squad] allows us to give opportunities to every player in the team. We played seven matches in 24 days and it’s not easy because there is not enough time to train.”
