Despite the 19 points separating Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs, Rulani Mokwena believes both teams will be going for a win when they meet in the DStv Premiership on Saturday.
“Chiefs profile is very clear and they have a very good mixture,” said the Sundowns coach.
“Sifiso Hlanti is experienced, Edmilson Dove is a very experienced player, Zitha [Kwinika] is very experienced with great leadership capacity. And then in midfield you have Yusuf Maart who has youth international experience.
As Sundowns we have to go there and try to be better than the opponent and always try to have better chances. At the end you will see two teams going for results.”
Abdelmounaim Boutouil, Terrence Mashego, Abubeker Nassir and Terrence Mashego have been ruled out with long term injuries, as well Bongani Zungu who has started training with the team.
Despite winning 11 matches in a row, Mokwena insists that the title race is not over.
“No league has been won in January, I’m consistent with my statement and it’s a statement I make in the confides of our meeting with players.
Chiefs will always be Kaizer Chiefs, a big club historically and they need to be given a lot of respect. They have great players on the pitch, their performance has been much better than results suggest.
If you only look at the score line like the game against Amazulu, you will get a wrong impression about the team. If you check the results against Sekhukhune United, you will get a wrong impression about their performance levels because they are extremely well organised, very clear in their patterns of play, well drilled skills, they have very good players and a good coach [Arthur Zwane] and technical team around them.”
