Motlhalo: I’m here to add value

Banyana Banyana player Linda Motlhalo says she wants to add value to Glasgow City after joining from Swedish side Djurgadens IF.

The 24-year-old was unveiled yesterday after signing a two-year contract. “I feel happy to be here and I have already met the coaches and so far so good,” Motlalo said.

“I chose Glasgow City Football Club because I wanted to experience a new environment having played in Sweden (for Djurgardens).

I received a warm welcome from the ladies and the coaches. I’ve seen the team play and they have been doing really well and I’m here to add value. I’m hoping to get along with teammates and everyone.”

The attacking midfielder started her career at Tuks Sport High School, before moving to National Women Soccer League side Houston Dash in 2018. She moved to Beijing Phoenix before joining Djurgardens IF in 2020.

Glasgow City interim coach is exciting about her new signing since taking over.

“Linda arrives with a wealth of experience on her CV from her time in some of the top leagues in the world and her impressive international career with South Africa. I have no doubt a player of Linda’s experience and technical ability will enhance our already talented squad, she is an exciting attacking talent who I am very much looking forward to working with.”

Motlhalo is eligible to face Rangers in Sunday’s SWPL meeting at Broadwood Stadium.
