Despite Kaizer Chiefs’ struggles to maintain consistent form this season, coach Arthur Zwane says he is happy to see youngsters doing well this season.
And one of those players is midfielder Mduduzi Zwane who came through the club academy and made his debut against Maritzburg United. The 19-year-old also made an assist in the 1-0 win against Richards Bay.
“We will have to develop these boys with the Kaizer Chiefs mentality while they are still young, dealing with pressure and knowing what’s going on – on and off the field,” Zwane told the media after the 1-0 to Richards Bay.
“You don’t get too many players that can come to Kaizer Chiefs and shine and settle quickly because of the pressure. But the more you play, the more you do well. If you don’t perform the pressure mounts because it’s not easy to play for a team of Kaizer Chiefs’ calibre.
“But it’s good to see the youngsters doing well. My belief is that they are the only ones who can drive this vehicle going forward. It might not be now but in future there will be lots of players that will understand what it means to play for a team of Kaizer Chiefs calibre.”
